My first systems implementation was a transfer of the Ferranti Pathology system from a large London Teaching Hospital to a local District General Hospital in the North West of England. This entailed considerable adaptation and extension from a well-defined academic portfolio as the laboratory did sample analysis for clients from a nuclear facility to the local vetinarian!
As the original system was called Phoenix, ours became DELPHI Phoenix, as we were not sure how the transition would progress. Some local wag thought the DELPHI was actually an acronym which stood for ‘Don’t ever let Peter Harvey (my eminent boss) interfere’!
The alternative derivation is that like the mythical Egyptian bird, this organisation sprang from a previous incarnation in which it died by burning. In this guise, I have yet to make my 500-yearly visitation to Heliopolis, Egypt to affirm this origination.
However Phoenix Associates evolved, we are pleased to discuss any informatics or management consultancy assignments for the health domain.
